"This EP, quite honestly, changed my life for the better. I'm finally happy with myself, my life, and my music career and what I would want to make genre wise. I used to only make metal/noise music, which you can hear some noise influences here and there with the ambiance, and I realized I wasn't too happy with it minus my Internals Collapse project. The making of this EP was rushed, but that's okay since this turned out to be something phenomenal, life changing, and almost my magnum opus … If you will. Making this release was pretty hard, I had just come out of the hospital a week prior from something that I won't go into detail with, and I felt like it was the right time, to just start making music that I genuinely love. And that was the right time. The EP was made in a short amount of time, and we'd spend several hours just slaving on Discord calls over this release, but it came out excellent. I'm reliving that happiness I got when this first came out, and it immediately became known thanks to Reddit. I'm so stoked for this release, and good job to all of you who remixed a song! They all sound fucking amazing!!! <3 Musically, this release wasn't planned. The songs (rough cuts) were already previously in the works, but we one day decided to sit down and think, work, and make sure this EP was as good as we could make it, and I think it turned out really well! Minus the fact we're way better at producing now, this is one of the best sounding releases under my belt. The production of this was a direct split of 50/50, and honestly? I didn't expect this to happen at all, I didn't expect to release something that sounded nice, I thought it'd end up being mediocre. I was terribly wrong. Thank you Zoloft for planning out the release, helping with the visualizers (minus Thalassophobia), dealing with my complicated bullshit, and managing to not snap my neck in half for some of the dumb shit I do. And just everything in general. Without you, man, this wouldn't be happening. A huge thanks to xrt, DFI, Albassort, and Experience for being on the remixes. And most importantly, Harmonic, thank you for jumpstarting my career, giving me motivation when I couldn't get it anywhere else, dealing with my bullshit, me being depressed, and being my best friend in the whole world for the last five years. At this point, you're pretty much a brother to me, and thank you for making such a bangin' EP with me. I can't wait for later on this month, and I can't wait to start working on the album again, and what we may have in the future. "The making of this EP was rather rushed in a sense, but I’ll always have a great respect for it as we were limited to very minimalistic production choices. I’m not good with minimalism at all; I normally like to continuously add element after element to my music because I’m afraid that it’ll get stale quickly, but it’s obvious that most people listen to my music to have an experience rather than to pay attention to the intricacies. This EP completely flipped everything around for me. Rewind to a few months before the original release, and I had been working on early rough mixes of some of the tracks before we had even come up with the idea for Drowning Desire. In this stage, the majority of sounds were just loops. Said loops on their own were obviously not very fit for a release, so one day, me and Terminal Narcolepsy decided to work on the tracks a bit more. The first track that was completed was “Drowning” (the main sample being found in a video of a crude CGI recreation of a well-known cartoon character), the next track being completed was “Resurfacing” (the main sample from that being a video of a friend of mine playing handpan). Then "Dive Into The Abyss" was completed, the only song to not have been a work-in-progress before these sessions began, (the main sample being something from a popular video game manipulated beyond high hell). Lastly, "Reflection" was completed a merely 9 minutes before the EP was released (the main sample being a trombone cover of another artist's song). Terminal did the cover art, and I designed the physicals and remastered the release for this deluxe edition. While I do wish some things were done better and changed in the original release, this has been fixed in this release. I am very proud of this project, and I couldn’t be more thankful that I was able to make it with my best friend in the entire universe. This was the first project where we truly collaborated in a 50/50 balance, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. It’s still one of my favorites that we’ve done, and I hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as we did creating it. Cheers!" - Harmonic Illusion
